A Life in Pictures

Why do we live our lives behind the lens of a camera?

What will you do when you’re older and have nothing left but the pictures to look back on?

What a tragic way to live, feverishly documenting the whole ‘act’ of life, as if it wasn’t your own, just so you had a library of material to look back on in your final days…..

It would be too late by then of course, as you realise you haven’t really lived your life at all, and all you have left are the pictures.

A faded facsimile of a forgotten memory you could have, should have had.

  1. On the other hand, we don’t need to necessarily LIVE behind the lens, but can use it to express and share our experiences, and ultimately, some memorable moments with friends we’ve made along the way of our journey? In this way our photos don’t stand apart from us but become a catalog and journal to, in some vulnerable human way, shared memories…

    1. Absolutely. This is more an observation of a worrying trend where there is a detachment, of where social media updates are all that matters.
