So here we are. Easter Bank Holiday 2020, England, and coronavirus lockdown!
Hearing about all the coronavirus deaths in the UK, (over 7000 and rising), while also seeing people out flaunting the rules has inspired me to pick up the guitar and write a song today.
It’s about someone in hospital alone and close to the end with this awful disease.
Someone perhaps with no family and nothing to lose, but in their resignation realizing life wasn’t so bad, hoping that we can all learn from him.
Someone who didn’t care, someone who broke the rules, but someone who is hopeful we can turn it around.
And in his last breath, a clear focus, far too late for him of course, that it’s all ‘In our Hands’
If one person listens to this and decides to stay indoors this weekend, then I’ll be happy!
PLEASE STAY SAFE, STAY INDOORS, WASH YOUR HANDS, AND KEEP YOUR DISTANCE.
In Our Hands – Written & Performed by By Adam Harkus
Lyrics
There’s noone here
Noone by my side
I’ve nothing left
I’m almost out of timeAnd looking back
The things I love today
They’re not coming back
I slowly fade awayBut anyway, I’ve nothing else to lose
I feel this pain, but tomorrow I am throughSeems to me, as I lay on my bed
If we live or die, our way of life’s in our hands
Plain to see, the thoughts run through my head
If we live or die, our way of life’s in our handsThe time is here
I feel it deep inside
I’ll pass away
For others to arrive
