Last year, what started as a friendly Jam rapidly progressed into rehearsals and, on the 28th Feb 2026, the first gig for my(our) new band: The ZX80s

The ZX80s are a North Shields-based 3-piece band playing a mixed bag of 80s Covers.

What’s the band vibe?
We’re friends that have played together in various bands for years (in some over 30!), so expect a relaxed, fun atmosphere with a bit of self-deprecating humour along with a solid foundation built up from decades working the circuit. We’ve discovered that being a 3-piece gives you much more space and freedom of expression. Less is more, as they say! We’re also firmly of the view that live music should be exactly that, so no backing track here. It’s great to be in a band free of the usual band politics, dramas and tensions and to just get on with having fun playing music together… even better that it’s 80s music!
