Lekato WS-50 Wireless Guitar System Review.

In-depth review of the Lekato WS-50 5.8Ghz Wireless Guitar System.

Why do you need a Wireless Guitar System?

That’s a very good question, and one I’ve always avoided because, up until now, I’ve always used Whirlwind guitar cables, which in 30 years never failed…. until now!

Personally, I never thought I needed a wireless guitar system until I tried one, and the benefits became obvious. which are:

  • Less moving parts = Less to go wrong. With guitar cables, even the very best ones, the Achilles heel is the connection between the jacks and the connection cable itself. At some point it’ll get tugged, placing stress on the connection, which will eventually cause a failure. With a wireless guitar system, there is no connection to break, and one less thing to worry about.
  • Mobility. You’re no longer tethered to your amp or pedalboard, making for much easier stage acrobatics if that’s your thing, but on a more practical level, not having the lead makes your setup far less cluttered. Fewer distractions allow more focus on your playing. The lack of clutter also pays dividends in the recording domain when you already have to contend with mic and headphone leads. No matter where you are, a wireless guitar system lends an extra air of freedom to your playing.
  • Size. Even the most stripped-back setup is going to need at least a couple of decent-length guitar cables, which have got to be stored somewhere. With a wireless guitar system, you have essentially two small units which will fit easily into any guitar case compartment.

I was hoping for two things. No tone degradation and no latency, and I’m happy to say the Lekato WS-50 delivers on both counts. Check out my video review below, I can’t tell the difference, can you? Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel.

The setup was a no-brainer. Plug the transmitter into your guitar, and the receiver into your amp, and turn both the units on. They sync up automatically (with two solid green LEDs confirming). A low battery indicator warns you to recharge the units (after around 5 hours) with the provided dual USB lead.

If I’m being honest, although the transmitter fits all guitars perfectly, it looks better and is more out of the way on a Les Paul / Tele-type guitar where the jack socket isn’t situated on the front of the guitar., like on a Strat. Minor point though as the rotating jack system works really well.

A definite (and perhaps only) area of improvement, for me, would be in the labeling of the transmitter and receiver. It’s just not clear enough and isn’t illuminated.

What more can I say? No matter where I moved, the guitar tone stayed the same, with no cut-outs, no detectable latency, and no tone degradation, even when I moved into the kitchen! This is a simple and effective wireless guitar system that just works.

Great design, ease of use, solid construction, and flawless performance all for $58.99 I can’t really fault the transmitter/receiving labeling of the Lekato WS-50 Wireless Guitar System at this price point, especially considering how much fun I’ve had with it! How does it compare with similar systems? Well, you’ll be paying double from the likes of Line 6 and BOSS, and I’m really not sure why you’d want to do that given what the WS-50 delivers and its comparable latency and battery life spec.
