I am in Goa right now and I have just finished this cracking little book. I’ve read on the beach, in cafes and bars and finally in my little wooden hut. I like this man, he is warm and engaging and he made me laugh out loud several times. this book is lovely to read, mainly because he isn’t pompous at all. He writes with refreshing honesty and I identified with his experiences a lot. Nicely done!
A Geordie in Goa.
An enjoyable and engaging account of a month in Goa. A well put together piece blending humour , thoughtfulness and a simple observational style. If you’re expecting a detailed guide of where to go what to do and all that then this might not be for you. If you enjoy reading the personal thoughts and experiences of your average bloke in a completely new environment then I’d highly recommend this.Don’t read if you’re hungry though as you’ll definitely end up craving a biryani .
A thoroughly enjoyable tour of Goa
Not a guidebook but a personal account of Goa, out of Season, in 2006.I enjoyed watching though his eyes and reading how the different culture and attitudes affected and changed him.

You’ve summed Goa up, similarly to how experienced it, on my first visit 20 years ago.The passport confiscation made me laugh, as I went nuts the first time I had to hand mine over!I’m going back , for the 11th time in Nov, but to South Goa 😁
