Our Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, was changed by Lancashire police yesterday for, what Rishi describes as “an error of judgement”; taking his seat belt off to film a social media clip.
Yet another error of Judgement?
They really are stacking up now, aren’t they? I count 3 objectively official ‘errors of judgement’ now. There’s probaly many more, but to be honest I’m past caring.
- This latest one.
- The ‘party’ fine during COVID.
- The lack of transparency over his (extremely rich) wife’s tax affairs.
That’s quite a lot in such a short space of time, Even Boris Johnson would be proud.
It’s not about the seatbelt.
Back to my original point then. On the face of it, it’s not exactly the crime of the century is it? But it got me thinking. When do I ever forget to put my seatbelt on? Never is the answer, and I think the reason is through common sense, safety, and the law, I’m personally programmed to put the seatbelt on, at a subconcious level. But that also got me thinking: What if there are other aspects of our lives that are similarly subsconciously controlled? What if those aren’t necessrily about common sense and safety? What if there’s something deeper and more sinister at play? Digging deeper still I can see clear examples on how the powers that be have tried, at the very least, to control the narrative, and at worst, attempted to socially engineer the non-ruling class to their will.
The removal of a left-wing opposition.
Remember Jeremy Corbyn? A Man who had the audicity to suggest a different vision for the country, who was doing very well in the polls. Who could possibly even form a Goverment? Answer: He was removed, on the face of it internally. Reason? He denied the level of anti-semitism in the party, and continues to do so. Although nothing was ever proven, the end result was a new centre-right opposition, or in other words no opposition at all…
…. and nobody seemed to question it.
The removal of any opposition to the Status Quo.
Liz Truss didn’t last long, but, it seems even a Prime Minister isn’t powerful enough if their ideas veer too far from the template. No matter your political views, the swift and efficient way the market, financial and political forces mobilised to dispose of her was ruthless. See a bit of a pattern developing?
Again how did that actually happen?
Brexit
Remember the feelings at the time? The Prime Minister, David Cameron would rather we stayed in the EU. Cue 7 years and counting villification of anyone who had any sort of view to the contrary.
COVID
Similar fearmongering and villification continued throughout the pandemic, with familes and friends breaking up over views of the (still) untested vaccinne we all felt we needed for our own safety. And all the while the pharmaceutical companies made billions.
Where is the report? What is the truth? Did the goverment get it wrong?
The War in Ukraine
Don’t get me wrong. All war is terrifying, unnecessary and inexcusable. But how can we even so as entertain an alternate view of the war? One that the west, and in particular the United States, have been provoking Russia for years? What of Russia’s warnings of NATO expansion around their border? What of the anexation of Crimea that we ignored?
Where is the debate?
The cost of living crisis
This is the latest one. The country is apparently on it’s knees in the wake of spiralling prices for fuel, food and everything it seems…… So how can we still flock to the sales, and manage to go on holiday?
I think you know the answer by now.
The answer is, the narrative is controlled. Jeremy Corbyn is guilty, we must play by the rules set by powerful institutions, Brexitteers and anti-vaxxers are idiots, Russia is evil and the couintry is broke.
Even more worryingly, nodody is arguing with that narrative, or at least nobody is able to have voice anymore without being cancelled.
Back to the seatbelt
The worst of, and the point of this is, while we’re spoon-fed fear and worry through the media, the ruling class, it seems, don’t have a care in the world. They party on when others, out of a sense of duty, miss their own family funerals. They operate outside of the tax-systems we all abide by, without question.
But the real insult is the uashamed display of disdain they have for the people that put them into power. So much so, that they don’t even bother to put on their seatbelt. They probably never have.
So thanks Rishi. Thanks for confirming something we already knew in such blatant fashion, in the knowledge that you’ve contributed to a system where nobody has the power, the knowlege, or the motivation to do anything about it.
